Following COVID-19 Procedures, Tribe Closes Sound Credit Building for Deep Cleaning After an Employee Tests Positive

Dear Tribal Community,

Tribal Administration has learned that an employee who works in the Sound Credit Building, 2806 East Portland Ave., Tacoma, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Today the Department received notification of a positive test of one of its employees. The Director has been in contact with the employee and all individuals the employee had contact with at work. The employee worked Monday through Thursday this week.  We are optimistic that the exposure is limited due to the social distancing measures taken by this employee and others in that department.

Identified individuals who may have been exposed have been notified and instructed to test and/or quarantine.

The protection of our community is a top priority.

Employees were sent home so the building can be deep cleaned.  It will re-open on Tuesday, August 25.

Throughout the pandemic we have prepared for this possibility. Our protocol when an employee tests positive is to determine the extent of exposure through use of our contact tracing measures and assess exposure to others, the level of building closure, and schedule a deep cleaning of any potentially exposed areas. We understand that each situation is unique and the response is tailored to each situation with the health and safety of our employees in mind.

The Tribe has taken numerous measures to ensure the safety of our employees during the coronavirus outbreak, including encouraging teleworking for positions that allow, implementing social distancing, installing Plexiglas barriers, remodeling building entries, and conducting regular cleaning and disinfection of buildings.

Stay well. Stay safe.
