Dear Tribal Community,
On Friday, Aug. 21, all Tribal government office buildings will be closed for deep cleaning. Although the buildings are closed, the Tribe is not closed. Government services that can be offered remotely will be available by email or telephone.
Earlier today, we sent out a message that an employee who works in the Sound Credit Building has tested positive for COVID-19. We have since learned that two other Tribal employees have tested positive for the virus. Following our COVID procedures, we are closing buildings for deep cleanings. We will post an update this weekend on when they will reopen.
Identified individuals who may have been exposed have been notified and instructed to test and/or quarantine.
The protection of our community is a top priority.
Our protocol when an employee tests positive is to determine the extent of exposure through use of our contact tracing measures and to assess exposure to others, the level of building closure, and schedule a deep cleaning of any potentially exposed areas. Each situation is unique, and the response is tailored to each situation with the health and safety of our employees in mind.
The Tribe has taken numerous measures to ensure the safety of our employees during the coronavirus outbreak, including encouraging teleworking for positions that allow, implementing social distancing, installing Plexiglas barriers, remodeling building entries, and conducting regular cleaning and disinfection of buildings.
You can learn more about steps you can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our website: http://puyallup-tribe.com/COVID19/covid.php
Drive-thru food bank postponed: The drive-thru food bank at the old Emerald Queen Casino Event Tent that was scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, has been postponed. A new date will be announced later.
Stay well. Stay safe.
