Pillars of the FIFA World Cup

With the FIFA World Cup quickly approaching, the World Cup team has identified the five pillars in which to build its efforts around.

Legacy Efforts

  • Incorporating the txʷəlšucid language into the media when discussing or promoting the FIFA World Cup. This will allow for our language to be shared globally.
  • Telling our story — A survey will be sent to members to help us determine what our story should be, and how we share who we are with the world.
  • Promoting Tribal departments, what we provide to our people and how we function as a Tribe.
  • Utilizing the FIFA World Cup as an opportunity to highlight our Tribal businesses and enterprises.

World Cup Powwow

  • Coastal Jam — June 18, 2026
  • World Cup Powwow — June 19-21, 2026
  • World Cup Stick Game Tournament — June 26-28, 2026

Opening Ceremony

  • Gathering of Washington Nations.
  • Spotlighting our veterans, Elders and youth.
  • Allow for the nation and world to see our traditions through ceremony.

Community Involvement

  • Regalia making for the FIFA World Cup. This will allow for our membership to look unified when we present our songs and dances to the world.
  • RAVE Foundation — Nonprofit organization that is helping schools and athletic programs by building mini pitches (soccer fields). Its goal was to build 26 mini pitches by 2026 and it has already accomplished that goal. Chief Leschi Schools was one of the schools selected and is now enjoying its pitch!
  • Vending opportunities to be announced in December 2025.

Environmental Sustainability

  • Community garden revitalization that will highlight Indigenous plants and medicines.
  • Sharing the importance of sustainability.

These pillars are the foundation in which we hope to build our goals on. We will continue to develop and grow our operations around the World Cup and keep the membership up to date through the paper and this FIFA World Cup landing page.

Please be on the lookout for our survey in which we need your help to tell “Our Story.” By filling out this survey, you will be entered into a drawing to win one of the brand-new kits worn by the Seattle Sounders team and many more prizes. Survey must be completed by June 28.
