The Puyallup Tribe of Indians have lived along the shores of the Puget Sound in Washington State for thousands of years.

The ‘people at the bend at the bottom of the river’ have been known for “generous and welcoming behavior to all people who enter our lands.” Living off the waters of the Puyallup River fed by Mount təqʷuʔbəd, the Puyallup People continue to fish, hunt and travel these waters, taking much care of their sacred resources. They continue to practice their traditional ways, just as their ancestors did.

As one of the most urban tribes in the United States, the Puyallup Tribe is committed to being a good neighbor. It is consistently one of the top 10 employers in Pierce County, it fights to protect the environment, its economic development projects create jobs, and it donates millions of dollars each year to charitable organizations through its Charity Trust Board and through donations made directly by the Puyallup Tribal Council.

It takes a positive mindset and plenty of determination to secure meaningful employment, and Program Manager Heidi Bostrom aims to help Tribal Members find opportunities and gather the tools they need to take hold of their life through the Workforce Development Program.
