This is Dr. Shelton, the medical director for the Puyallup Tribe. I hope you’re all hanging in there during this unbelievable situation with the coronavirus.
I’m so pleased with the leadership and foresight that the Council has shown on a number of issues, and we are ahead of the curve. We started eliminating group gatherings over three weeks ago. And social distancing is being practiced in many ways. The governor is asking us to stay home and many of us are already doing that, but we need to keep trying to do it even better.
Our efforts at social distancing have already begun to show benefits. Emergency room visits are down. Admissions to the hospital for COVID-19-like illness is beginning to decrease. I’m hoping this is real and not just a lull before the storm. But I do believe our efforts at social distancing is working and that it continues to be important. So please stay home as much as you can. Thank you very much.
