Chief Leschi Schools’ Class of 2024 had its time to be recognized at the school’s graduation ceremony on June 8 held at the Four Seasons Gym.
Along with students and staff, Puyallup Tribal Council Chairman Bill Sterud delivered remarks to the graduating seniors.
“As you embark on your future endeavors, whether it be further education, entering the workforce, or exploring new passions, hold on to the wisdom passed down by our Elders,” Sterud said. “Stay grounded in your identity, maintain a sense of community and strive to be a source of inspiration and support for others.”
Native rappers and comedians Lil Mike and Funny Bone were the ceremony’s keynote speakers.
Many seniors were recognized with awards and scholarships before diplomas were handed out.
As each graduate accepted their diploma, they were blanketed by members of Tribal Council before heading back to their seat.
